Bison represent one of the two main species painted on cave walls, Horses being the other. The styles, stances and techniques to depict them are as abundant as the caves we find them in. These bison were not the ones we see now in Europe or America. They were bigger, stronger, wilder creatures, used to fight off predators we do not dare imagine nowadays. No wonder they made an impression that led us to painting them in so many caves where there is little evidence of having used them for feeding.
